Les 12, 13 et 14 JUIN 2009, les CAP-HORNIERS étaient invités pour le 6ème festival de chants de marins de FALMOUTH en CORNOUAILLES ANGLAISE.
JUNE 12TH, 13TH AND 14TH, 2009, CAP-HORNIERS were invited for the 6th festival of SHANTY of FALMOUTH in  CORNWALL.

 

ci-dessous : Départ le Vendredi matin, Les CAP-HORNIERS quittent ROSCOFF à 15 H.
Departure Friday morning, CAP-HORNIERS leave ROSCOFF at 3 pm.

Vers 20 H, nous apercevons l'ANGLETERRE dans la brûme.
 At about 8 pm, we perceive ENGLAND in the fog.

 

 

Puis un manoir, pas de doute, nous y sommes !
Then a manor house, no doubt, HERE WE ARE !

 

Le débarquement a lieu, nous essayons de n'oublier personne derrière nous. Nous sommes très nombreux ! 47 ! C'était la difficulté de ce séjour ! Mais pour une fois, les Français ont débarqué !  The landing takes place, we try to forget nobody behind us. We are very many! 47 ! It was the difficulty of this stay!

 

 

 

Après deux heures de bus, nous arrivons tard à FALMOUTH et allons directement nous coucher. Le lendemain, après une petite visite de la ville, nous nous apprêtons à partir pour le festival. Les drapeaux Bretons sont sortis. After two hours of bus, we arrive late at FALMOUTH and are directly going to sleep . The next day, after a small visit of the city, we're ready to begin the festival. The Breton flags went out.

 

 

Pas de doute, nous y sommes !

Lorsque nous arrivons sur une des scènes, nous trouvons nos amis de Falmouth magnifiques en pirates, qui ont débuté leur concert. Lulu va leur proposer un verre pour se désaltérer.
 When we arrive on one of the stages, we find our friends of Falmouth magnificent in pirates, who began their concert. Lulu proposes them a drink

 

 

The "GREAT" FALMOUTH SHOUT

Et nous commençons notre premier concert AT THE MOOR

Après un premier concert où le public a dansé sur nos AN DRO, direction le pub
 " THE FRONT". Nous sommes bien accueillis par un pirate

Le concert démarre. Tous les CAP-HORNIERS ne peuvent pas y participer, nous sommes trop nombreux.
 The concert starts. All the CAP-HORNIERS can't participate in it, we are too much many

 

Dans une ambiance surchauffée, nous allons jouer plus d'une heure et demi devant un public enthousiaste.
In an overheated atmosphere, we're gonna play more than one hour and a half in front of a public enthusiast.

 

  

 
Quand je vous dis qu'il y avait de l'ambiance ! Devant, ce Monsieur nous a suivi sur tous nos concerts, habillé d'un costume traditionnel, il a un carré de bois de 1m X 1m et danse dessus.
 When I say to you that there was of the atmosphere! This Sir followed us on all our concerts, dressed in a traditional costume, he has a wooden square of 1m X 1m and dance above.


 

Après ce concert, nous nous restaurons en face du superbe port de FALMOUTH.

Nous commençons ensuite notre troisième concert
sur CUSTOM HOUSE QUAY, grande scène.

Il y a du monde partout qui, comme pour les autres concerts, va participer en dansant sur nos chants à danser.
There are a lot of people everywhere. As  the other gigs, people participate by dancing on our "shanty dancing songs".

Après ce concert, nous avons 2 heures de libre, cela nous permet de voir d'autres concerts : Ici CHARLOTTE and SPONG, un duo original concertina et violon, bien sûr de chants de marins. Un couple très sympa, Richard parle parfaitement Français et m'a d'ailleurs bien aidé plus tard.
 After this concert, we have 2 free periods, it allows us to see the other concerts: here "CHARLOTTE and SPONG", a duet original concertina and violin, naturally of shanty. A very nice couple, Richard speaks perfectly French and
moreover helped  me later. Thank you Richard, you're great !

Entre deux scènes, voici ce que peuvent donner les déplacements des CAP-HORNIERS dans la ville. Que ce soit sur scène ou dans la rue, le GWENN HA DU a flotté sur FALMOUTH pendant deux jours !

Between two stages, here's what can give the movements of the CAP-HORNIERS in the city. Whether it's on stage or in the street, the GWENN HA DU (WHITE AND BLACK) floated on  FALMOUTH  two days!  
 

Et à 20 H, nous démarrons notre 4 ème concert devant une foule de spectateurs, l'ambiance est extraordinaire. Les quais noirs de monde
 And at 8 pm, we start our 4th concert in front of a crowd of spectators, the atmosphere is extraordinary. Many people are there !

Après ce dernier concert du samedi, nous avons le temps de nous restaurer et d'écouter d'autres excellents groupes. Ensuite le lendemain, départ à 10H de l'hôtel, pour une nouvelle journée pleine de surprises.
After this last concert of Saturday, we have the time to restore us and to listen to the other excellent groups. Then the next day, allocates at 10 am of the hotel, for new day full of surprises.

 

 

 

Nous retrouvons LOUISE, notre guide très sympathique pour ces 2 jours et la bande de pirates.

Avant notre dernier concert, nous allons voir les autres FRANCAIS  de ce festival, des personnes SUPER avec qui nous avons sympathisé. Ils viennent de CHERBOURG et s'appellent "CHERBOURG SHANTIES"
 Before our last concert, we visit the other FRENCH PEOPLE of this festival, very nice persons with whom we got on. They come from CHERBOURG and are called CHERBOURG SHANTIES

 

 

 

Et le dernier concert de ces 2 jours fantastiques commence. Il a lieu au WATERSPORTS CENTER. Nous retrouvons des spectateurs Anglais qui nous ont suivi sur tous nos concerts, Nous avons pu sympathiser avec eux. Des gens formidables ! Ci-dessous installation du groupe
And the last concert of these 2 fantastic days begins. It takes place in the WATERSPORTS CENTER. We find English spectators who followed us on all our concerts. We were able to get on with them. Formidable people! Below installation of the group

Plusieurs Anglais nous ont suivi sur tous nos concerts, ici un  Monsieur très sympathique qui entame une scottish avec Mimi.
 Several English people followed us on all our concerts, here's a Sir very sympathic who begins a Scottish with Mimi.

  

 

Après ce concert où nous sommes rejoint par d'autres chanteurs Anglais, nous allons à la MAIRIE pour une réception. Ici, montée des marches

J'ai le temps de m'installer dans le fauteuil du Maire entre le drapeau Anglais et Breton. Au-dessus de moi, la reine !
I have the time to install me in the armchair of the Mayor between the English and Breton flags. Over me, the Queen!

Je suis ensuite invité par le Maire de FALMOUTH pour une remise de cadeau et pour un discours.
 I am then invited by the Mayor of FALMOUTH for a delivery of present and for a speech.

 

 

Voici de gauche à droite, le Maire, GORDON le Président de ce Festival qui a accompli un travail FANTASTIQUE avant et pendant ces trois jours. Je leur remets ensuite une très belle faïence de la part de la Mairie de QUIMPER. Je précise que nous sommes prêts à revenir. Nous sommes d'ailleurs déjà invités pour l'année prochaine.
 Left to right :The Mayor, GORDON the President of this Festival , which carried out a FANTASTIC work front and during these three days. I put back to them  a very beautiful earthenware on behalf of the City hall of QUIMPER. I clarify that we are ready to return. We are moreover already invited for the next year.

Nous remettons encore quelques cadeaux, (Produits typiques Bretons ) à cette charmante personne TRES TRES SYMPATHIQUE qui s'appelle CLAIRE. Elle est d'ailleurs venue à presque tous nos concerts.
We still put back some presents, ( Breton typical Products) to this charming VERY VERY NICE person named CLAIRE. She moreover came to almost all our concerts.

 

 

Nous quittons FALMOUTH avec regret, mais plein d'excellents souvenirs dans la tête. Le Gwenn Ha Du revient aussi à QUIMPER
We leave FALMOUTH with regret, but full of excellent memories in the head. The Gwenn Ha Du (Breton flag) returns also to QUIMPER

 

 

Nous prenons le Ferry à 23 H et arrivons à 8 H. Notre belle BRETAGNE est en vue. Nous avons passé un week-end MAGNIFIQUE et
rencontré des gens FANTASTIQUES. L'ile de BATZ !
 We take the Ferry at 11 pm and arrive at 8 am. Our beautiful BRITTANY is in sight. We spent a weekend magnificent and met FANTASTIC people. BATZ island !

I have seen your website and thought the pictures of France, and your journey to Cornwall were great. Please say hello to Mimi, and all my new friends. I visited Quimper quite a few years ago, but did not stay for long, unfortunately I think I missed quite a lot. Your group added so much to our festival, look forward to seeing you all next year. It's very good to hear from you, and I'm so glad that you and Cap-Horniers enjoyed your visit to Falmouth! Everyone here was delighted to meet you and to hear you sing - wow! Such exciting music! And thank you VERY much, too, for the lovely gifts you gave me. The sables are delicious - and we are keeping the cider and wine for a special occasion!!! Cas and I have been playing your CD a lot, and it's definitely one of our favourites. And we very much enjoyed the article on your website, with the photos. It's great to have an English translation, too - it'll help me in my efforts to speak better French! Perhaps by next year I'll be fluent! (Well, perhaps...:-)  I'll put together some of the photos we took and send them to you. And some photos of our home on the north Cornish coast (very different from Falmouth!), so you can see how we live!  Thank you again, and we're looking forward to seeing you next year!  Very best wishes,  Louise

- Bien le bonsoir de Falmouth, on est les deux bretons (Benjamin et Olivier) et le martiniquais (Igor) que vous avez permis de faire monter sur scene. Toujours sur Falmouth, toujours charpentiers de marine, et encore heureux de vous avoir entendu, une maniere formidable de finir le week end On est de retour sur Brest pour les uns, dans le cap pour les autres, et ce debut juillet! On aimerait tres sincerement vous retrouver pour un concert, et pour une biere par la suite bien entendu. Merci pour le morceau de Bretagne que vous nous avez apporte, merci de nous avoir laisse chanter. on se retrouve bientot! KENAVO !

-  Good evening of Falmouth, one is the two Breton ones (Benjamin and Olivier) and the inhabitant of Martinique (Igor) whom you allowed to make go up on scene. Always on Falmouth, always carpenters of navy, and still happy to have heard to you, a formidable manner to finish the week end. One is of return on Brest for the ones, in the cape for the others, in July beginning! We would very sincerely like to find you for a concert, and a beer thereafter of course. Quelle  chaleur humaine , quelle convilialité , quel accueil nous avons vécu pendant tout notre séjour, nous nous serions cru a Douarnenez , c'est vous dire...

Bravo Michel, en quelques diapos tout y est: L'aventure était rendez-vous, les chansons de partout, l'ambiance à casser la barraque, la bière à couler à flots! Les Cap-horniers auront laissé quelques souvenirs dans les têtes, dans les pieds (danses) et dans les coeurs...Youen.
Bravo Michel, in some slides all is there: The adventure was appointment, the songs of everywhere, the environment to break the house , the beer to be run with floods! Les Cap-Horniers will have left some memories in the heads, the feet (dances) and the hearts… Youenn.
Les bénéfices de ce festival ont été reversés à la RNLI (l'équivalent de la SNSM, société nationale de sauvetage en mer). Gordon m'a demandé si pour l'occasion nous pouvions offrir 1 ou 2 chansons afin de faire 1 CD dont le bénéfice des ventes irait à la RNLI. j'en ai proposé 3. Ils ont retenu 2 chansons : C'est à Cherbourg et Faut avoir du courage.
Ci-dessous la pochette de ce CD que j'aime particulièrement car on y retrouve tous nos amis du FALMOUTH SHOUT The benefit of this festival were transferred with the RNLI ( equivalent of the SNSM, national company of rescue at sea). Gordon asked me whether for the occasion  to offer 1 or 2 songs in order to make 1 CD whose benefit of the sales would go with the RNLI. I proposed 3. They retained 2 songs: C' est à Cherbourg and Faut avoir du courage. Below the small pocket of this CD that I like particularly because one finds there all our friends of FALMOUTH SHOUT
